Try something new. You’re just beginning your career. You may not know exactly what job will be your ideal fit. Chances are there are a variety of industries your skills can be used in. Try a few different fields to see what suits you best. Take a short-term gig at a startup to see if you enjoy the pace and innovative atmosphere. Work at a major corporation for a while to find out if you enjoy the structure and clear promotion paths.
Get your foot in the door. What if you know exactly where you want to work, but can’t get the time of day from their hiring manager? Temporary and temporary-to-hire jobs allow you to impress on the job, essentially coming in through the backdoor if you can’t get in the front.
Wait to settle down. If you’re still living with your parents or crashing in an apartment with multiple roommates, you’ve got a great advantage over a lot of older job seekers. You don’t have to worry about choosing the best school district or selling a house. You can try out a bunch of different areas to figure out which feels like home before deciding where you’d like to live long term.
